Create a CD

1.

Put a blank CD in your CD-RW, and select the tracks you want to record or select a Playlist.

2.

With your files selected, do one of the following:

Toolbar

Right Click

Send To | CD, DVD & Handhelds | your CD Burner

Drag & Drop

Expand "CD, DVD, & Handhelds" in the tree, and drag your files to the CDR-RW

File Menu

Tools | Create (Burn) CD

3.

The system will scan for a writable CD-ROM drive on your computer. If you have more than one it will ask which one to use. When the dialog box opens, select Audio CD or Data CD. The content pane will display the Create CD Screen (if it doesn’t, click on the CD-R/RW under Devices in the tree).

4.

Click on the Start button.

To remove a track from the Queue, right-click on it and select Edit | Delete.

To change the track order prior to burning, drag and drop tracks from one position in the list box to another. When you are satisfied with the order, right-click and select Update Order.

To add a track to the queue drag it onto the appropriate device in the tree or right click and select Send To | CD, DVD & Handhelds | your CD Burner.

When a data CD is burned, a Playlist file called "playlist.m3u" will also be burned onto the disc. This will contain the full track names (including directories and subdirectories).

By default, Media Center is set to decode files directly to CD. That means that the files are decoded "on-the-fly" from their native formats (mp3, ogg, ape, etc.) to CD compatible wave data as the burning process is taking place. The alternative if this is not checked, is that a temporary intermediate file is created first which is already decoded, and then that file is written directly to the disk being burned..

Uncheck this if you have a slower system, an older CD Burner, or are having difficulties burning. To do this:

Place a checkmark next to Use CrossFade/DSP, then click on the DSP Settings box

Uncheck “Decode files directly to CD”.
