Select the TV Tuner in the tree, then click on Options | Advanced | Recording.
Video Folder
You can view or change where your video files (and temporary recordings) are saved. By default, Media Center will select the drive with the most available free space, and will create a folder called "Video".
Recording/Timeshifting Profile
Media Center provides four recording profiles by default (these cannot be changed). If you are having problems recording or time-shifting, try any of these profiles. If your computer is too slow, try the Preset 4, as it records using a lower video size.
Note: Some TV cards are not capable of recording at high video sizes while at the same time displaying the video on screen. If that is the case, you must choose a lower size (such as 320X240) or allow recording to be done without monitoring it.

Preset 1: 640X240 J. River Codec Timeshift, WMV Recording, 29.97fps
It is best for most ALL-IN-WONDER users with a fast computer. For Time Shifting it captures 640X240 video size, compressed with J. River Video codec. For recording to file, it uses WMV format at 640X480, 2000kbps. Audio is recorded in 44100/16/stereo PCM.

Preset 2: 640X240 J. River Codec 29.97fps
This is the default preset. This preset is similar to the first, except that it records in AVI format, using the same parameters as time shifting, rather than WMV.

Preset 3: 640X480 J. River Codec 29.97fps
This present is also records in AVI format, with a larger video size.

Preset 4: 320X240 J. River Codec 29.97fps
Records in AVI format, with a smaller video size than all other presets. If you are having problems recording or time-shifting, try this preset.
Add a Profile
You can add your own customized profile. Select the preset on which your new profile will be based, and click on the "Add" button. You will be guided through several simple steps (if you keep clicking the Next button without making any actual changes, you end up with a duplicate profile named "Copy of ... ").

Step 1: Recording Format
In this step you will need to give your custom profile a new name. The default is "Copy of ..." where "..." is the name of your existing profile. Edit the name so it reflect the characteristic of this profile. For example if you want to choose a different video compressor in the next step, you can change "J. River Video Codec" to something else, such as "DivX".
In this step you also need to select a file format for you video recording (irrelevant for timeshifting). Choose AVI or Windows Media.

Step 2: Video and Audio Format / Compression
Choose a video compressor here. If the video compressor has a configuration dialog, then the Configure button will be enabled, and you can click it to configure the compressor. If the video compressor supports setting Quality parameter the quality setting will be enabled, and you can change it by clicking the up or down arrow.
You can also select a Video Size, Frame Rate, and Audio format (PCM formats only for now).

Step 3 (for AVI): AVI File Miscellaneous
This step is applicable only if you selected AVI in Step 1. AVI recording is done in two steps. The program first records video to a preallocated temporary file (named TempCaptureFIle.AVI), and then at the end copies the video to a destination file. See AVI Recording for details. You should preallocate a large enough disk space to ensure smooth recording (5000 MB (5GB) for example).
You can modify the behavior at the end of the recording session. The default behavior is to copy the recorded video to a destination file whose name is formed using the channel number and the time when recording started.

Step 3 (for WMV): Recording Quality
If you have selected WMV in Step 1, the video is recorded in Windows Media format, with a file name made up of channel number and time recording started. The selections here are self-explanatory.
